Presenting host cities: Opatija

Finally, the last city to host IHF M19 World Championships is the pearl of Croatian coast – Opatija.

During the preliminary round, the beautiful city of Opatija will host countries from groups G and H. Those countries are Germany, Argentina, Saudia Arabia, USA, Sweden, Faroe Islands, Iran and Burundi. Preliminary round will last from August 2nd to August 8th and President cup placement matches will be played on August 10th and 11th.

Opatija is situated in the west of Croatia on Adriatic Sea and it is one of the oldest tourist destination in the country. It became popular health resort in the 19th century and to this day it brings people from all over the world because of its beauty, tradition and history.

Sports hall, in which all the matches will be played, was named after Marino Cvetković who died during the war in the 90’s in Croatia. It was opened in 2013 and its capacity is 1217 people.

People of Opatija are impatiently waiting the arrival of young handball players from all over the world and are excited about all the great handball matches that will be played in their city in just 20 days.
