Presenting host cities: Rijeka

After two cities in Croatian north, Varaždin and Koprivnica, today we are moving to the seaside and third host city – meet Rijeka.

The city of Rijeka will be the host of groups E and F during the preliminary round. Groups E and F consist of Denmark, Austria, Chile, Mexico, Norway, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Georgia and they will play against each other from August 2nd until August 8th. After preliminary round, on August 10 and 11, President Cup placement matches will be played in Rijeka.

Rijeka is located in the west of Croatia, and it is best described as a beautiful and balanced mix of culture and industry. In the past, but still today, Rijeka is best known for its port and colourful carnival. Also, in 2020 Rijeka has been named European capital of culture.

All the games will be played in the Sports hall Zamet which is named after one of Rijeka’s neighbourhoods. This sports hall was opened in 2009, for Men’s World Championship that was held in Croatia, and its capacity is 2350 spectators.

City of Rijeka is ready to welcome some of the most talented young handball players and it’s ready to show them all of its beauty.
